About Tricycle Music Fest West
The San Francisco Public Library and Friends of the San
Francisco Public Library present the first ever Tricycle Music Fest West, the
biggest little music fest in San Francisco, combining seven libraries, five
entertainers and a month of shaking, rattling and rolling for kids around the
City.
Taking place this October,
Tricycle Music Fest West features free entertainment
at six branch libraries from the
coolest kindie rock bands in the Bay Area, and
a rollicking block party and music fest on the
Fulton Street side of the Main Library on October 10.
The lineup of top performers on Oct. 10 includes: Frances England, The
Hipwaders, The Time Outs, Charity and the JAMband, and The Devil-Ettes with Pip
Squeak A Go Go. In addition, six branch libraries—Glen Park, Ingleside, Marina,
Portola, Richmond and Western Addition—will hold mini concerts throughout the
month, providing even more ways to rock out at the library.
“We know that early literacy skills for children are greatly
enhanced by the addition of music, so we are thrilled to bring these fantastic
artists to our libraries to engage our youngest patrons with the written word along
with rocking music,’’ said Christy Estrovitz, early literacy specialist for San
Francisco Public Library.
Families are among the Library’s most active users and Tricycle
Music Fest West is an opportunity to acknowledge their support as well as to
highlight the value of the Library as a source for entertainment, information
and inspiration.
The Tricycle Music Fest was created by the Public Library of
Charlotte and Mecklenburg County in 2007 and has since become a popular annual
concert series celebrating families, community and libraries. San Francisco’s Tricycle
Music Fest West brings the concert series to the West Coast for the first time
and features the best kindie rock bands of the Bay Area.
Tricycle Music Fest West is free and open to the
public.
